ETHOCIDE, NOT GENOCIDE

Some European Armenians gathered in Brussels, Belgium, for two days during October 18-19, 2004, at a self-serving, Turk-bashing meeting.  What was interesting this time was that, this event, with a curious subject like relations between the European Union and Armenia, was organized by some French socialists, United Left Group (GUE).

Armenia?  The tiny, land-locked, poverty-stricken, corruption-ridden, terrorist –haven, violent country whose own desperate citizens are abandoning in droves the hell they themselves created?  And whose number one export is illegal workers and number one import is foreign aid?  Armenia who has nothing but ill will toward, hatred for, and trouble with her neighbors?  What could EU possibly want with Armenia?  Other than perhaps extend charity to a basket case?  Anyway, back to the story.

GUE chairman Francis Wurtz, in his opening remarks, stated that he supported the Armenian claims, from both aspects: human rights (as in right to commemorate) and political rights (right for self determination).  Turkey, Turks, or Turkish views were neither invited, nor represented.  How typical of the AFATH (Armenian-Falsifiers-And-Turk-Haters) community!

Would the biased Frenchman perhaps care to remember that Turks are also human beings and they also have same human rights (right to commemorate their own dead and suffering) and political rights (right to protect their country in the face of aggression)?  I guess it would be a bit too much to expect fair, balanced, and ethical behavior from some French Socialists.

I will not bother to tell you what the Armenian attendees did or said, because there is nothing new there.  Same old stuff.  You killed us all, you planned it all, blah, blah, blah… They do what they are trained to do: deliberately misrepresent history to unsuspecting public and defame Turks and Turkey at any forum at any cost.  My issue, therefore, is with the leaders of the European Union, who are under fire from the notorious AFATH community, to make Turkey recognize AAG (Armenian allegations of genocide) as a precondition to join EU.

Of course, the AFATH community members neglected to discuss unimportant issues like brutal Armenian aggression into Azerbaijan (1988-1994);  ruthless military occupation 20% of Azerbaijan territory for the last 10 years; and ethnic cleansing campaign waged by Armenia that caused about one million of Azerbaijanis to be refugees in their own homeland for the last decade.   AFATH people also forgot to discuss the international Armenian terrorism that took 3 Turkish diplomat’s lives right here in Los Angeles alone; many more in Paris and Lyon; and over 70 globally.  And that GUE chairman still shamelessly talks about human rights?  Go figure.

So, I decided to pen the following letter and e-mailed to all EU leaders.  If you feel like I do, perhaps you would like to do the same.

October 20, 2004

Dear leaders Of The EU Microcosm,

As an American of Turkish descent, living in Los Angeles, California, under the constant threat of Armenian fanaticism and terrorism, I find the action of some French Socialists, aiding Armenian groups purely for anti-Turkish reasons, quite unfair, unethical, reprehensible, and, indeed, shameful.

I find this partisan move to host Armenian groups, to the exclusion of the Turkish groups, an insult to the silent memory of millions of Turkish dead during World War I, when France invaded Turkey (Ottoman Empire then) along with England and Russia and others (all of whom have yet to apologize to the Turkish people for this "allied  aggression" and the resulting unspeakable pain and suffering they had inflicted upon the Turkish people and others).

I ought to know, because I come from a family that experienced all that "Allied Hell" had to offer.  My father had escaped the horrors of the Balkan Wars and Greek aggression in 1912 (as a one year old baby thrown on the last Turkish train bound for Istanbul, never hearing from his parents or the entire Turkish community in the village of  KIRLIKOVA ever again) only to face Armenian aggression in Anatolia (1914-1918)... As did millions of Turks fleeing from the Balkans, Southern Russia , Crimea, the Caucasus, Arabian deserts, Aegean islands, and more... They escaped from the frying pan and fell into the fire!..

It is an established historical fact that Armenians had used propaganda, agitation, terror, rebellion, betrayal, and supreme treason, in that order, between 1878-1915, in pursuit of a utopia, establishing a greater Armenia on Turkish soil, where the Armenians were always in minority.  This impossible dream, supported, managed, and evilly cultivated by the "Allies" for their own selfish reasons, caused death of some 2.5 million Muslims during WWI (according to Prof. Justin McCarthy) and untold millions of wounded, leaving no Turkish family intact and Turkey in absolute rubble, grinding poverty, and near starvation.  Even the food supplies shipped from other parts of the Empire could not reach Anatolia due to British naval blockade (according to Prof. Stanford Shaw).  Grains could not be harvested because all young and able bodied Turks were fighting endless wars dozens of fronts, stretching from the Dardanelles to the Caucases, from the Sinai to the Balkans...  The allies were determined to “finish the Turk” once and for all.  They have even used the Ottoman Greeks and Ottoman Armenians against their fellow Ottoman Muslims to bring down the Turks.  Most Greeks and Armenians happily obliged.

When Turks showed true grit, determination, and incredible courage to defend their country, and indeed secured their very survival, Turks were blamed with being heavy handed or too harsh.  What the AFATH couldn’t do with weapons in the battle fields, it seemed, they tried to do with their pens in the Western media and diplomacy and politics.  The rest is history.

Most Armenians, who were supposed to have been “systematically killed”by Turks, curiously surfaced in France, America, Russia, Syria, Egypt, and other places as immigrants.  You must read Dr. Halacoglu's new book, Death & Exile, Turkish Historical Society, 2003 Ankara, where Armenian claims, based mostly on British wartime propaganda, are proven wrong, again and again.  Armenian genocide, what a shameless deception!

Even after all this inhumanity, mostly dished out by the allies onto the Ottoman and Turkish world during WWI, some die-hard partisans (descendants of those brutal French invaders) arrogantly use the good offices, facilities, and name of European Union, to resurrect old animosities in order to stubbornly advance a lost Armenian cause, perhaps in a desperate, last minute move to block Turkish accession into EU.  They don't seem to care that AAG (Armenian allegations of genocide) are no more than a slice of racist and dishonest history (racist because they ignore much larger Turkish suffering and dishonest because they ignore Armenian rebellions, treason, terrorism, and torture).

I am in the process of writing a book called "Ethocide, Not Genocide".   A new word I coined from the words “ethics” and “cide”, my humble gift to the English language, ethocide means   "pre-meditated, systematic, and malicious mass deception employed by any person, group, institution, country, or block of countries, to destroy partially or wholly, another person, group, institution, country, or block of countries, with the intention of benefiting from the results.".   I have created this description around the baseless Armenian claims of genocide and those who support these baseless claims.

I protest in the strongest of terms, therefore, the above described ethocidal behavior of some French  socialists hosting Armenian groups at EU facilities to accuse Turkey in a forum where Turkey is not properly represented.

Thank you for sharing my concerns,

Ergun KIRLIKOVALI
